Good Afternoon, My name is PCSO 44 Hill and I am writing to provide you an update of my patrol plan and engagement work that I have carried out in my ward area of Tong. This week, I have focused on addressing local concerns, maintaining a visible presence and worked to support the community. Delivered road safety presentations to a local primary school in Bierley. All children from year one through to six participated in a presentation ran by myself that focused on how to cross the road safely and why we wear seatbelts. The children also had the opportunity to ask myself about different things relating to policing. Further schools were then visited within the Bierley and Holmewood area, where future presentations were organised to discuss online safety, protected characteristics and how the police help us. Attended all businesses on Weaverthorpe Retail Park, Tong Street and spoke with staff regarding anti-social behaviour and shoplifting. Anti-social behaviour patrols were conducted throughout the Holmewood estate, specifically at the Bottom Parade, Top Parade and Pit Hill Park. Further anti-social patrols were conducted at Sutton House, Darren Street and Arkwright Street in the Sutton Estate. Youth groups were attended at St Christopher's Church, The Valley Project and the TFD Centre, all located in Holmewood. Youths were spoken to regarding any issues they had and reassurance was provided. Patrols have been conducted within Tong Village in regards to speeding vehicles, fly tipping and the restricted use of HGV's. Home visits paid to elderly residents within the Tong ward and reassurance provided to each individual. A joint initiative was also conducted between the council and the police on Fawcett Place, Bierley. This day of action involved police door knocking and asking residents of any issues or concerns while the council worked on cleaning the snickets and drains in the surrounding areas. Patrols will be continued in line with ongoing ward priorities, with a particular focus paid to anti-social behaviour within Holmewood, Bierley and Sutton. If you have any concerns or information you would like to share, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Finally, we have a Police and Communities Together meeting on the 1st April. This will run from 10:00-11:00am and will be held at The Community Shop, Weaverthorpe Retail Park, Tong Street, BD4 9RQ (This is located next door to Iceland Supermarket). This will be attended by local partners, including the council, and will give you the opportunity for you to attend and voice any options or issues you are facing within the Tong ward community. Kind Regards, PCSO 44 Hill |
